Massey Industrial 35 power steering issue

Hi All

I'm a newby when it comes to tractors and just purchased a MF 35 to use around my block of land. I know nothing about these at all. It starts no problem and hydraulics work fine but the power steering doesn't seem to work at all. Any suggestions? Also I need a workshop and owners manual so if anyone can let me know where I might find them I would appreciate it.

Thanks

If it has the type of power steering that is in steering sector such as the 35 utility uses, good luck as most parts
are no longer available and what there are are very costly, other then the pump !!! Just went thru that with a 35
utility and I ended up
converting it to manual steering!! Works fine and cost was minimal!!! Hopefully it is just low on fluid!!!

Thank for that, I'll check it out.
Can you help with working out what year model it is from the info on the ID plate
Model 207/5, Serial #1303

Yikes, I can't imagine my 35 Utility with no power steering. I do have a loader, though.

To the op- first check fluid level, there's a large o-ring at the bottom of the reservoir. When it dries out, it'll leak all your fluid right out and all over the pump itself.

Next most common issue is the pressed in seal at the snout of the pump. If you lose fluid and your engine oil gets MORE full, that's your issue. Not too bad to replace and the seal is still available.

Thanks for the reply. When I put the first post on I said tractors are new to me and I know next to nothing, well that's proven right. My tractor is a 40B not a 35. Sorry about that. Still have the steering issue though.

There is a strainer inside the power steering pump, I'd look there first to make sure its not clogged. No one really checks what they don't see.

Thanks I'll check it out. All thoughts welcome.
