Our MF 35 Diesel has the voltage regulator mounted on a home made bracket on top of the generator which is fine. I have been trying to search where it may have been originally mounted. I am sorta guessing it may have been around/under the battery box? I bought a wiring harness and judging by where the wires come out it seems to be around there. I probably will just extend the wires from there to where the regulator is now, but if anyone has a photo or something to share would appreciate it. The manuals I have are not specific to the location. Also tried parts diagrams agcopartsbooks.
