MF275 dashboard

I mis-identified my 275 as a 245 in a previous post. Our impoverished non-profit inherited the tractor from a previous grazing tenant.

I'm trying to start the machine after many years of sitting. At first, the lift pump wasn't working, but after removing it, it seemed to suddenly function, as if the mechanism had been stuck. I'm now getting fuel to the bleeders on the injector pump, but not at the injectors. I woke up this morning wondering if the "stop" pull control is maybe a "run" control? Should the knob be out or in to "run". I have no info about the tractor from the original owner so the injector pump could be faulty.

It almost fired using starting fluid, but the battery was too tired by that point, and jumping from my idling truck was pretty feeble. Headed over with a fresh battery next trip.

Fuel stop knob pushed in to run, pulled out to stop. When did engine last run? If it's set awhile with any traces of water in fuel injection pump may have stuck rotor plungers. Just repaired and returned a Long pump for the same trouble.

It has sat for at least five years. The diesel tank was full, so I'm hoping there's not a lot of water in the system. The lift pump was "stuck" until I removed it, and it magically started pumping.

Is there any way to unstick the injector pump besides overhaul? Chemical, air pressure, etc?

If the injection pump is gummed up inside like most I see in for repair after setting awhile, it will need a complete tear down and cleaning if there's any hope of it working again. Sometimes the head/rotor assembly needs replaced if the plungers and rotor bore have any signs of scoring. I've seen the weight cage gummed up so bad the weights won't even fall out of the cage..
