Will a starter from a MH-333, MH-444, or MH-555 Tractor fit on a MH-44 Tractor?
Did the newer MH Tractors use 12v systems unlike the 6v systems of the 44's?
I would like to convert the 6v to 12v (Starter and Alt)
If anyone bought a 12v starter for their MH-44, please let me know where you got it and their phone number.

Thanks

333 and 444 starters are on the left side when seated, 555 and 55 382 engines were on the right side. I put a 444 diesel starter on a 44 diesel years ago, both are 12V. 333 and 444 gas starters are 12V, and should fit in place of a gas 44 starter. Gas starters use smaller 3/8 inch bolts, diesels use 1/2 inch bolts. If I recall the flywheel ring gears are different along with the starter drives between gas and diesels too.

So a MH 444 Gas 12 v starter will fix ok on a MH-44 Gas Tractor?
What is the part Number for the 444 starter?

I can't find any online!

Who would carry it?

I have changed lots of my M.H. tractors to 12 volt and have never changed starters . Unless you grind on it a lot it will last a long time. All you really need to do is change charging system and light bulbs.

I got a 12V gear reduction starter from Goldburg for my 44, zips it over and super smooth on engaging.

To answer your question, yes they will fit. I have a 444 12 volt starter on a 44-6, one on a 44, and one on a 44 special, now these are gas, I don't know about diesel. One of the starters was from a 333 but they are all the same. Had one on the shelf, got one from a salvage yard and got one from nnalert years ago. They bolt right on and work good.I always had trouble breaking drives using 6 volt starters on 12 volt.
