What would be the best way to fix the pipe on top of the exhaust manifold that the muffler connects to

It should thread in. If damaged, perhaps cast iron welding may be an option.

you need to work on getting the old pipe removed from the threads. then get the threads retapped, then get a piece of pipe threaded and screw it in manifold. i have fixed quite a few like that already.

Hi,
Don't you have replacement elbows available from non-genuine parts suppliers over there? In the UK the elbows are quite cheap and studs are readily available. Should not be a problem as long as you can remove the old elbow.
