Mf 275 questions

I recently purchased a non running mf275 and am currently trying to find all the parts I'm missing. The most important part I need is an oil pan. I located a tractor parts supplier with a mf275 they are parting and they have an oil pan. However I'm being told there are 2 different oil pans. Anyone know anything about this? I know the 275 was only offered with the one Perkins engine and that it had minor modifications done halfway through productive n to gain 4hp. So any of you know anything about this?

Parts list shows two oil pans, early used 746 421 M1, late used 739 787 M1. Both will interchange as the 739 pan subs to the 746 number. MF 265 used the same pan too on the 236 diesel also, may help on the search.

For 275's after serial number 9A349239 the parts book says for repair use the 746421M1 (the prior to serial number 9A349239 oil pan) pan instead of the 739787M1 oil pan.

The HP difference is that they used either the Perkins 4.236, or the slightly bigger 4.248 with 4 extra HP in the 275. On the 4.248 the cylinder bore is .100" bigger (3.975") in diameter than the 4.236 (3.875" cylinder bore) .

After 9A349239 are the late parts list models, same # applies to the break on 265 models too..

The tractor parts supplier says they have a pan off a mf255 that will work. Can anyone confirm this? It's a 500 mile drive to go pick it up so I want to be sure it's the right part

MF EARLY 255 used the smaller AD4.203 Perkins, LATE 255 used the A4.236 similar to yours. ASK which engine before you make the trip, the 203 pan will NOT fit a 236-248 block.

As long as its the 255 that came with the 4.236 engine, and not the smaller 4.203 it will work. The 255 with the 4.236 engine the oil pan has the same part number that the late production 275. The 255's came with either a Continental 4 cylinder gas engine, a Perkins 4.203, and the 4.236 so make them guarantee it came off a 4.236.

When I'm looking at used part(s) if I'm unsure about the seller I always ask them what it came off of specifically, I do not tell them exactly what I have/need it for, it will save you from buying parts you can't use.

Gas was the Perkins AG4.212, not Continental. Dealer I worked for sold a late gas 165 with the 212 as the owner claimed he didn't like the diesel smell. Diesels sold MUCH better than the gas did, but there were a few gas hold outs.

So used to see the gassers being Continentals, anyways I have yet to see any Perkins gassers in person (seen them in pictures though).
