MF 184-4 PTO

The PTO quit working while baling hay with no noticeable noise or difficulty. Now with the PTO clutch lever pulled up and using the PTO engage lever there is no feel of the gear meshing. My workshop manual has 2 pages of PTO specs and 3 figures but none of that shows the area with the lever and how it engages the PTO. Anyone been there done this? What am I missing?

If it is anything like my 175 feel free to look at my post with pictures. It may help you to see what is inside that may be similar to your model. My issue was fractured IPTO drive gear. Hopefully yours is just a worn clutch. Good luck.

The lever on the left side next to the seat that engages the PTO engine or ground drive will jump out of the groove it rides in. That involves pulling the read housing. I've also had the selector lever on the left side of the rear housing pop out of gear. That won't re-engage with the engine running.
