Massey 135 good or bad?

I am looking for a tractor to run a 5 ft snow blower and I know Massey's have low reverse speed. I saw a 135 4 cyl at an upcoming auction and I was wondering if this would run that blower without much problems? Where I live in upstate NY, most of the snow is soft and fluffy and not more than 12 to 15 inches.

4cyl should be gas engine.

I ran a 78" on a MF 240 (diesel 8-speed, newer version of a 135) and handled snow ok. 5 feet is 18" less than what I ran should be fine.

Reverse is plenty slow and live PTO a must.

Not so sure - and I have owned a 135 diesel for 50 years. For my snow conditions (including some drifted and/or wet snow) a creeper gear would have been necessary while using a blower to avoid continually slipping the clutch, even just at 5' wide, running at 540 rpm on the pto. Snow conditions would have to be pretty light for that conbination to work well. A V plough on a FEL was a much more successful tool.

It should handle it, if has the 28" rims on the back with 13.6x28 tires you can go down to the smaller 24" rims with a 14.9x24 tire. The 14.9x24 tires are about 4" shorter than the 28's so the 24's will make it go slower, I have the 14.9x24 on mine, and in R-L it is super slow.

I run a 6 foot blower on a 1959 MF50 with the Z134 gas engine and it does fine. Most of the time, the only time I have to push in the clutch to let it catch up is when going through the plow drifts, or if it is a very wet/heavy snow. The 135 should have the same engine, or maybe the more powerful Z145 so it should handle a 5 footer with no problem. I would rather use my 6 footer though because it clears the full width of the rear tires.
