MF202 Air Cleaner

I was planning on taking the air cleaner off my 202 today and replacing the mesh inside it. But after seeing the post on the mf65 air cleaner, I see that it is not possible to easily change the filter mesh.

Is it possible to replace the mesh on the 202? I know on the oil bath air cleaner on my 8N it has a clip that holds the mesh up in there and the mesh just slides out and is easily replaced.

Is this not true on the MF202 as well? In the parts section here on YT they list the replacement mesh parts for sale but I noticed that it's the same part number that they also list for my 8N.

I don't want to bother removing my 202 air cleaner if I can't easily replace the mesh in it. YT lists a replacement air cleaner here for $75. If I can't just replace the mesh, I'll just order a new air cleaner.
 
My 2135 came with this air cleaner, you may have to make a mount for it, but it sure is better than the oil bath.

Well crap, When I took the air cleaner bottom cup off the air cleaner, I looked up in there and there is no way to remove the piece that holds the mesh in there.

What a stupid way to build it. As I said on my 8N there is just a spring clip that clips onto the middle tube and holds the mesh up there. It has the precleaner glass jar on it so I took that off and looked at that tube from the top and it was pretty dirty. I emptied about a little less than a quarter inch of dirt out of it. I cleaned the jar and put it back on.

I'm just going to order the new air cleaner from YT. I do like the idea of having the pre cleaner jar to put on the top of it.

What idiot designed this air cleaner so you can't get the mesh out of it?

ptfarmer I really like the way your 165 has all that access to the gauges like that. No access to the gauges is another stupid engineering step on the 202.
