Crankshaft grinding

Most good auto parts stores should be able to help you or at least point you in the right direction. I know my local O'Reilly's has there own machine shop in Springfield MO that they send blocks etc. to

Any local machine shop in your area SHOULD be able to do it. If they can turn the crank from a car, they can turn the crank on a smaller tractor like a 44.
The only thing a machinist has to remember is if the undersize bearings are available. You obviously wouldn't turn a crankshaft .030 under if only .020 bearings are available. Have the machinist order and have the actual bearings in hand BEFORE he turns the crank.
I'm gathering up parts to do a gasoline 44 rebuild in the next year.
Are you using new pistons? If so, who is your source?

I don?t have a source for pistons but will need to find one, perhaps. Since posting I am thinking about going a different route. I measured the bottom of the sleeves and found that number 1 and 2 are way undersized at the bottom. So much that the Pistons will not slide through. I wondered why number one and two pistons were scuffed and cracked. I imagine rust between the block and liner would cause this. But I?ve never seen that happen before. Either I find another usable engine or will end up having to spend a lot of money on this one. Not sure if it?s worth it to me.
