1 Step forward...2 back

It was that kinda day. Fixed the air cleaner and in return I get a leaky steering column and loader spools. Oh well, today was 1 step forward and 2 back. But I did get to play with it a bit. For about 3 hrs I moved wood chips. that would have taken me 2 days of wheelbarrow loads in about 3 hrs. Considering it was my first time using a tractor I think can get use to this :)

I bet its been sitting around quite a while, all the old leaks were plugged with dried on dirt.... now you are waking things up again, and the old dried crap will fall off, and leaks will - leak again. Yeah, get used to operating it-safely, then fix one thing at time. There are reasons the last owner didn't do the steering or valves...

"IF" I can trust the info I got..... I bought (either going to be Mater or Maynard..kids are discussing it) from a man that hits auctions. He buying stuff that isn't running and then gives it the minimum effort both time and $$. If it lives he sells it, if it dies he pulls parts or it goes to scrap. He made a comment that the tractor had been sitting unused for 20 years. Ya think some things dried out? lol I hope its a labor of love because it feels like were going to be spending a lot of time together, might as well enjoy it.

If the power steering actually works, you're still not in bad shape. Might just be a seal at the top of the steering column. I have a 204 forklift that's doing the same thing. Power steering works until all the fluid is gone....Doesn't take too long!!
