Fuel Sediment Bowl Question

Yesterday I pulled the glass bowl off to clean it, lots of dirt in there. Other similar ones I've seen have a screen filter, is this supposed to have one? What is the brass piece in the photo? I was afraid to pull too hard taking it off. 1959 202.

The brass thing is a screen. I wouldn't pull on it either. Hit it with spray carb cleaner.

That screen assembly will unscrew, so you can clean it better
