Hello. New & need help

CanAm

New User
Hi, my name is Lew.
I just became the new owner of this tractor, and wood like to give it a thorough 1,2,3 ( tune up, re pack cylinders, change fluids etc)
I'm having trouble figuring out exactly what model I have. No silver rivited badge. (Anywhere)
How else do I find this out.
If I submit pictures.. What specifically do you want to see.

This unit has been parked in a barn stuck in forward for 5 years. Did some research and figured out that it's an industrial model, took the gear shifter cover off and found one of the three springs with ball bearings [b:0bce73ee38]Completely[/b:0bce73ee38] packed full of dirt, rust ect, this was exerting sooooo much pressure on the rail in the V groove it would not allow the forward reverse shifter to shift.
After many hours (10-12) of disassembly to get to that area, was super excited to have half hazzardly put it together (steering column, hydraulics for power steering etc) to find out it worked!!

So if anyone here can help me figure out what I have so I can continue to put some TLC into this, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks Lew.

No tag under the right side of the dash? close to the battery? Or this looks new enough to be right under a removable tin plate, inback of the battery, just above the tranny casting. Can you see a plate on the engine? Even the make and size can narrow down what model it 'may' be. Some one on here may know what it is by the grill and dash. Whatever it is, looks good to me! Welcome to the club.
PS, you are darn lucky you were able to post pictures this soon.

Thanks for responding.
I just yesterday brought this to the house. I have a snowmobile in the shop right now, so hopefully soon I'll be able to bring it in.
I will then check all areas you speak of.
I need to get the manuals so I can start fix'n things.
It runs really well now, but have to keep choke on about 1/4 of the way.

PS, didn't know I was lucky in my ability to post pics.,... Leaving now to buy lottery tickets.
Thanks again

Can you raise the loader up and take a picture of the grill. I can see it has a Continental 4 cylinder gas engine. Does it have a manual transmission (with a clutch) or the instant reverse (has a torque converter. A picture of the steering, and gear shift would help also. Those are not the rear fenders it came with, but they look pretty good.

Thanks ptfarmer.
Your right 4 cylinder gas
Manual transmission 6 fwd 2rev
(high and low)
Gears on right 1-3 + rev
(reverse is locked out from
factory) then high and low and
then fwd rev.
I'll take some pics
I agree about fenders. (John
Deere green under the yellow)

Looks very much like our MF40B, early 70's, can't remember the exact year. Same MF34 loader. Lights are owner added and it looks to me like the operator station has been upgraded; seat, foot plates, fenders and ? What is
the hydraulic valve unit on the rear for? While those fenders look good, clearance to the tire is pretty minimal for the site conditions that tractor is capable of working in. Think mud.
