HELP! - MF 65 Replacing Power Steering Hose?

Doing some work with my dad on his MF65 and had to remove the power steering hoses. Low pressure side was already bad and had been clamped on with a radiator hose clamp. The high pressure seemed ok but when we removed it, some of the threads came off. It will probably come as no purpose to many of you that none of the hydraulic shops I've shown it to, have been able to fabricate a replacement due to the unusual thread pitch on the pump. I know I'm not the first one to run into this problem. Anyone out there have a solution for replacing the fittings? I've seen some other threads that referenced converter fittings but nothing that gives part numbers etc. I'd sure appreciate any suggestions or leads anyone can offer.

If you could locate one in salvage yard even if bad you could use ends and have new
hose made up. Local shop cuts ends off and makes up new hose using old metal line.

Thanks - yes, that's what I was trying to do. I took it in to the local NAPA shop and they couldn't find fittings, so I took it to a larger commercial hydraulics company and they couldn't find fittings for it either. They said it was a 9/16, 18 pitch and weren't able to find anything in their catalog that would work. I had read that some folks had used a conversion fitting of some sort but haven't found any more details.

Hello
I may be able to find you new hoses...But I need to confirm the part number.
Can you reply to me with my regular E-mail? Bottom right Classic View..."Send E-mail" button.

Hello,
Have you tried Sparex assuming that Sparex is sold in the US. I have
just had two hoses through from one of their agents in the UK. The
hoses are NLA from MF and local hydraulic shops cannot (will not)
use existing fittings in new hoses. Sparex were the only UK firm
able to supply. The hoses fitted to the 165-188 may fit as it is
essentially the same system fitted to the 65.

That's too bad. Where would the problem be in reusing the old fittings? We've twice gone that route, both times it was suggested by the hydraulic supply shop. I'm in Ontario Canada.

Hi, I think that the problem may be the part of the ferrule that actually is swaged onto the insert. I believe that these are difficult to seperate. An ordinary hose will normally allow you to cut through the ferrule and open it to remove the insert. Don't think that you can do it with the insert that has the longer pipe section on it. My local hydraulic shop tells me that they can't renew them.

(quoted from post at 10:27:10 11/13/17) Sparex in sold in the US, is it a gas, diesel, and what is the serial number of the tractor, it makes a difference.

It's a diesel, SN is SNDW 691507

Threads on the fitting going into the PS pump came off and had to retrieve them from the pump reservoir with a magnet. So those are definitely shot and need replacement. The other end going into the hydraulic actuator is missing the ferrule on the low pressure side and being held on with a hose clamp. The metal lines are in decent shape and I think could be re-used if the ferrules/fittings on the ends could be replaced.

It might be costly but a good machine shop could tap those housings out to a standard size and you could regular hydraulic fittings. Have done that sort of thing many times when I was working in a machine shop. I would have then threaded to accept a standard tapered pipe thread or O-ring type fitting
