I have a 44 special that is worn out. It has a heavy rod knock and will need sleeves. Are these parts available? I can get the crank fixed but the other.....? Will a 333 engine fit into a 44?

The 260-277 engine far as I know still has some parts support, probably better than the 333 208 engine does. Might check with Montes Equipment in Chicago, new old stock Continental parts dealer.

I have a piston and sleeve kit for the 44 diesel. Part number 840589m91. Just missing the rings. Cant seem to upload a photo. Reply to my personal E-mail. And I can send you the photo....if interested?

Parts for the 208 are not available.

That's what I thought. On another note, the four inch over bore sleeves that fit the 260 block are not the same as the 277 block that came with four inch bore. Continental changed the sleeve OD sizes on the later blocks, but the pistons were the same. Found that info in an old NAPA sleeve size listing I have years ago..

The 333 engine will fit but you may have to lenghten the output shaft or use the clutch bell housing from the 333. Fan shrouding may need to be added to since the 333 engine is shorter than a 44 engine.....and harder to find parts for. Ben
