Is there anyway to make sure that the lift cover
doesn't crack again after replacing it. Anything that i
can do to it to prevent it?

Yes like Dieseltech said replace relief value---2500-3000 psi. Just bought one that had been busted. Replacing rear end case and top. You can weld but it will break again next to your weld. Replace your rock shaft(cover).I was at Pittsburg Tractor salvage today and there was a lot of tractors that had busted covers.

Hi gang,
As soon as I read the question I wondered if someone would mention
the linkage setting. Glad to see that you both did. It is
frequently people trying to get a bit of extra lift height out of
the linkage that causes the cover to break. If the rest of the
external linkage is sloppy REPLACE IT!.
The correct setting is achieved by placing a piece of 3/4" bar
through the hinge pin lugs and adjusting the position control lever
to give a distance of 11.8" (300mm) from the centre of the bar to
the centre of the lift rod pin. When in this position the
adjustable stop should be moved up against the POSITION CONTROL
lever and tightened so that the linkage cannot be raised any
further. When at this point it will be possible to lift the 3-point
linkage BY HAND slightly which is correct. IF it is allowed to rise
too high the system will lock up and this is when the cover can
break due to the stresses being placed upon it.
