180 auxillary pump

I'll try to make a long story short. The MP and outlets aren't working on my 180. Lift works fine. I had the pumps rebuilt last year and they worked for about an hour. I'm just getting around to working on it again. With the lift cover off and the tractor running shouldn't I get oil of the ports on the side cover? I'm getting nothing.

The side cover has pressure and return ports. The return port has an aluminum elbow that MAY have popped out of the side cover, allowing air to enter the pump instead of return oil. Had that happen on dad's 180 a few years ago. Could also have lost the drive TO the pump, keeping it from even turning. With the lift cover off, use a mirror and watch the gear drive while cranking the engine with the fuel stop out. Another way is to remove the pump top steel line that goes to the side cover, that's the pressure line. Oil SHOULD flow out the pump elbow when engine is cranked or running if the drive is OK.

I removed the steel line inside and fired it up. I'm not getting any oil through the pump. The gear on the primary pump is turning but I can't see in there to see if it's driving the auxiliary pump even with a dental mirror. It doesn't act like it. I think I'm in for another double split.

Okay here's another update. The little tube that connects the pump to the return line was cocked off. I pulled the side cover of that the lines run through and plugged the return port on the pump. I fired up the tractor and now have oil through the pump. Thanks once again dieseltech! Now I just need to get it put back together with that tube in there square and snug.

That return port back to the pump is critical, dad's 180 had the elbow pop out of the side cover allowing air to enter the pump. Hopefully you can fix it without another split. Last MF265 I had in I put the pressure gauge on the cover outlet elbow, that's how I found the heavy steel line was split inside with the lift cover off. Didn't run five seconds until the leak was found..
