well having never tore into a manual transmission when mine got locked up in reverse i tried the quick tricks which did not work. it looked like i was going to have to pull the shifting rails. found a guy that said "no problem" just get it ready to split and he would come show me. well it took a year but he finally came back and now that it shifts i started to put it back together. that was when i realized that someone decided that i must not need the nose to my tractor and took it. i have spent the last two days staring at web site after web site can not come up with the parts i think that the sides to the nose are still made but i need the nose cap, oil bath air filter assembly, the upper plate, and the center door. would like to find a used nose complete. yet with it only being a two year production run it does not look promising. what is a guy to do?

Sounds like some one stole the front half of your tractor. None of those parts are re produced, if they are, ain't cheap, and you are right, 10,000 made, 9000 still running, you aren't going to find used too sooon. You better ask around in Sam Drucker's General store and see who owns an F40... or into buying and selling antiques, that's who got your parts, and maybe the only way to get em back. Since these are big money easily identified pieces, you can tell the state police to keep and eye out. In the mean time, you might better take the rest of the tin off, to keep it from rattling and rubbing the radiator and gas tank, and if there is a dead MF50 near you, the tin can fit... !!!! that's another thing! Ask around who 'had' an MF50... but now 'has' a Ferguson 40.... only difference besides tin in the dash tag.... good luck!
BTW, post this on the 'Harry Ferguson' forum too, more 40 owners on there than here.

thank you Tony and i do not need to ask around i know who took it just can't prove it. i was introduce to someone that has been in trouble for going on what looks like abandoned property and taking things. he turns it into art work he has some high end clients the kind that put art in vaults. problem is he has never been in trouble with the law always manage to keep it from going that far. even if i tried to go to the law i do not know a last name where his studio is or if it is even if the first name is real. and the person that introduced us is claiming not to know anything and will not cooperate. with the hood down and locked it does not rattle real bad was thinking about running some rod between the fenders in front of the radiator so i can mount some screen to keep the dirt out of the radiator fins. what about the oil bath air cleaner that even if i had there is no where to mount it. there are some high performance motorcycle air filters that could just connect to the pipe. would be ok to put a paper type filter on it?
