My old MF65 runs a little rough and i think it may be distributor related. Has anyone installed this kit? How difficult
to do? Did it improve performance?

The electronic ignition isn't really a cure-all, it's more of an upgrade for delivering better/ more consistent spark from the coil to the plugs, and being "set it and forget it."

I'd give the points a gentle filing first, check all your plugs, the cap, the wires, rotor, etc... If all of that is in good shape, there's a good change the electronic setup won't change anything.

I put it in my machine, it runs more consistent, not necessarily "better." The upside is that I never have to mess with points again, not that it's difficult, but today's parts aren't as good as they used to be, and I've gone through several condensers already.

Install is straight forward, the only modification you have to do is to slightly enlarge the hole where the wire comes out of the distributor. 30 seconds with an air-cut-off tool and you're done. A file would work, too, but you'd likely have to remove the dizzy.

I installed EC on my Ford 841 because it has a loader and the distributor is hard to reach. I am glad I did and am pleased with result but like shaeff suggested, it is not a cure all for issues that may affect you tractor at any given time. If your electrical system is in good shape and you don't mind the cash outlay, I would certainly recommend EC. I am going to install on my MF 35 just as soon as I figure out what distributor I have. It is not the original and it looks just like the one's on my Fords.
