TO 35 Hyd Lever Issue

I have a 59 TO 35. All of a sudden the the hyd levers started working in reverse. The round knob lever will do nothing up or down,
and the square knob lever is working in reverse. When you put handle down the 3ph raises, pull it up and 3ph lowers. Anyone had this
issue.
Thanks Brian

Hello Brian,
In theory this is a situation that cannot happen but as we all know anything is possible. I cannot give you an exact cause at this stage but hopefully a general answer will help to get you moving on it. Have you drained the oil to the bottom of the side cover on the RHS and removed the cover yet? This will be the first thing to do. At the bottom you will see the pump control lever coming up out of the oil. In front and making contact with the pump lever are the two vertical levers. The spring in the control valve should cause the pump lever to push the vertical levers forward. When the Position Control lever on the quadrant is raised the pump lever should be leaning reawards. As your selected 3-ph position is approached the pump lever will take on a more vertical or just slightly leaning forward position. When the PC lever is lowered on the quadrant the pump lever will lean forward more as it is in the discharge position.
With the engine running you should be able to move the pump lever into the pumping and discharge positions.
My thought is that something has happened in the linkage inside the hydraulic cover. The linkage frames can bend or wear and this causes the rollers to run off their track sometimes which can completely upset the operation. After doing a visual check I would remove the cover and holding the ends of the vertical levers to simulate the control valve lever operate the quadrant lever. Look for lost movement between the quadrant levers and the vertical levers. Remember that if you have the cover upside down that the lift arms will assume the raised position. Secure them in what would be the 'DOWN' position if you can. Remember also that the cover is heavy and lifting gear should be used if available for the cover. Don't forget to remove the stack-pipe under the small cover at the front of the hydraulic cover first.
