I have some questions about oil filters and spin on kit

I just got some items in from YT

I got the spin on oil filter kit for my 1964 MF 35 with Z134 and the Kit came with a Fram PB50 oil filter.
I also have a Napa Gold 1050 oil filter that I picked up a couple of weeks ago .
I have read in various different place that the Fram oil filters are not very good at all.
I suppose it would be better to use the Napa Gold Oil Filter if the Fram is not as good.
Anyone here with experience using both that can confirm or deny this?

Now for the conversion Kit itself
It came with no instructions just the plate with holes in it,2 gaskets and bolt that holds the Gaskets between the plate and the engine.

Do I need to use any gasket sealer to hold the gaskets in place on the engine or will just the Pressure of the bolt and the heat of the engine be enough?

What torque specs are recommend to tighten the bolt to the engine??
Or Just about as tight as I can get using a 8 inch or so 1/2 inch rachet?

Thanks

The 1050 and 1051 was made for bypass oil filters, I do not know if yours is bypass or full flow.

The NAPA Gold 1050 crosses with the Fram PB50. I would go with the NAPA Gold filter. The NAPA filter has more filtering media than a Fram
filter. I have had problems with a Fram oil filter and caught it before it did any damage and company I drove for lost several IH DT466s from
Fram oil filters.

Toss the Fram filter, and use the Napa/Wix filter, the oil filter system is a bypass style. The oil that gets filtered get "dumped" right back into the oil pan. Any crud that makes it past the little 1/8" bypass hole leading to the filter goes to the bearings. You shouldn't need to replace the bypass filter at every oil change (unless you prefer to). The main thing is to change the oil on a regular basis so the engine has the cleanest possible oil so it won't have the time to accumulate too much stuff in the oil.

Makes sense to me,I will use the Napa Gold oil filter.
Can you answer my other questions about the Spin on kit itself ?

Thanks

(quoted from post at 19:16:32 09/21/17) The gasket shouldn't need any sealer, and just snug the bolt down good (shouldn't have to be super tight), it should be ok.

Thanks again

why,
if you never take your tractor in the woods, this should be fine,
but in the woods a stick or stump of a small tree can be kicked up and hit that oil filter thin wall outer can.
bust it and all your oil will be drained out before you know it.

the heavy metal canister oil filter housing has worked fine for many years, why fix something that works.
my new Toyota van, Toyota has gone back to using canister oil filter housings from spin on filters.
If Toyota thinks its better, then it should be a no brainer for an old Ferguson tractor out in the fields and wood lots,

again, just my opinion,
my wife of 46 years has reminded me many times, no one really cares about my opinion, if they wanted it they will ask for it.

I just buy a top quality oil filter, wix or napa gold, you get good seals with this filter,
it works good and I use 15w40 diesel oil in my old TO35, runs good and holds good oil pressure.

The oil filter on the Perkins hangs down further than the Continental. If you can knock a oil filter off, and keep running the tractor until it seizes up you shouldn't be on, or operating one. You should be using a shovel, and other hand tools instead.
