Perkins 4.248 ring / washer in timing gear issue.

Hello,

My cousin is assembling his Perkins 4.248 for a MF 690 from 1986.

For some reason he had a metal ring tied with a little top to the camshaft. We thought it belonged to the camshaft, but finaly we understood it could not belong there.

So, where does it belong.

So, now we wonder if someone has a parts book they can look in, or scan so we can see all the parts for the other gears.

I have looked online if I could find a parts book for downloading, but no luck so far.

I have pics of the ring, but no clue how to post it here.

All help and input is welcome.

(quoted from post at 20:40:07 09/04/17) ck agcoparts 248 engine shows 2 washers on camshaft gear face and one washer or spacer on inside of gear

Thank you. Well, we figured out he had the washers he was supposed to have on the camshaft, so it must be somewhere else in the timing gear.

I can not understand it is not a single part book for the 248 to find online. Not for free, not for sale, no nothing.

(quoted from post at 00:13:13 09/05/17) You can find the breakdown of parts/part number here http://www.agcopartsbooks.com/PartsBooksN/Viewer/Default.aspx? enter in the tractor model number, and select Massey Ferguson from the drop down menu. It's all in there.

Thank you, I have decided to go to the nearest MF dealer and get a username and password to the AGCO site you refer to. I can not use the link you sent here. It sends me to the login page.

:D

Best regards, Bill

(quoted from post at 13:42:02 09/05/17) The link I provided is if you live in North America only, anywhere else in the world you need a login name, and password from a dealer.

Thank you everybody for your help. This was a tricky one. I did not think of this, I mean, I live in California, which is still USA from what I understand, so that should not be a problem. But, since I am originally from Norway I am using a Norwegian keyboard, and it must have been something with my settings that caused the computer to ask for username and password without the option for guests. This happened with all the links I have tried. But, the dealer wrote down the address, which I could have tried myself if I had enough grey matter between my ears. So, when only the adress + .com was in the URL line, the US version came up, and I could use the part books.

The part has been identified and is the washer between the timing gear on the crankshaft and the pulley. So, everything seems fine now.
