Massey-Harris #62 plow

In 1988 I bought a M-H 50 tractor that had been traded in on a newer tractor, Sunday I went to an estate auction at the farm this tractor came from and bought the # 62 3 bottom 12" 3pt hitch plows that the 50 used to pull. 29 years apart. I talked with the man's son and he remembered the 50 and he told me these were the plows it pulled.

Then David might have a chance of locating his old fergie. I prefer 2 bottom plows, but if this particular one came with your 50 since new, that's better than great! Can you post some pics of them?

just my opinion and its worth every penny you paid for it: my TO35 ferguson came with 3x12" plows, who in their right mine thought a TO35 could pull 3x12" fast enough to get the ground to flip over, my plows may have high speed wings, so it must be pulled faster, I do not know, just does not do well pulling in 3rd gear, low range.

I have a #62 Ferguson plow 3x12" great little plow, if the ground it clean, but it does not like debris, it will choke up in a second. my plow is in excellent condition, new points and coulters

reason it chokes so, there is not enough throat area on a 12" plow, if I had an opportunity, I would swap it for a 2x16 MF plow. 16" plow has more throat area and will allow debris to just flow right on through.

if you disc the ground good, if there are a lot of weeds debris, then disc in the direction you are going to be plowing you will do better,

I have tried taking the coulters off/on makes no difference, just have a Sharpe knife and heavy plyers with you so you can pull out the choked material.
wish I had some pictures to show you of me trying to kick out the stoppages. but I was so mad at the plow, I would not have taken a good picture.

However, I solved my plow problems, I either borrow my neighbors 2x14" Ford 101 plow or use my MF disc plow, they work good, will really roll the dirt and let the debris flow right on through.
again, just my humble opinion,

Mr. wellmax99, thank you for the reply. I really had no reason to buy this plow other than the fact that it and my MH 50 both came off the same farm. I have a JD 2 bottom plow that I use with it. Thought that the #62 would look nice with the 50 at plowdays. Most of the plowdays around here are done in bean fields where the is not a lot of trash to plow under. Thanks again. Tom
