175 Aux. Hydraulic valve Question

Hello,
The auxiliary hydraulic valve on my 175 does not automatically return to the neutral position when a hydraulic cylinder reaches the end or stop.
Is this control valve not designed to do this or is there an adjustment that needs to be made?
Thanks

Yes, it should go back to center when the cylinder reaches end of stroke both ways on double action cylinders. On single it will only return at end of one direction, will stay in detent in the other direction and allow cylinder to "float". There's a screw under the spool valve to set it up for single or double action too, think it's IN for double and OUT for single.

Okay, I'm using a single acting cylinder and the pressure dead-heads against the pump relief when moving the lever to the down position? Are you referring to the switch valves? Maybe that's my problem, they need to be turned out?

Yes, try turning the switch valve screw directly under that spool. If I remember it's in for double, out for single action cylinder use. I may have that backwards though. If it's set for double and you are using a single action cylinder then it WILL load the relief valve when lowering when it shouldn't. You can use double action cylinders with the valve set for single if you want it to "float" in the lower position.
