MF35 starts and runs fine. Try to drive under loads starts making popping sounds and dies. New plugs, wires, points and coil check out. Gas problem?

this is the way I set the carb, it is redneck, but the old tractor runs fairly well

If you are sure you have good points set, timing, wires plugs all set right.

warm up motor, hard to set carb on a cold motor,

put gear in second high range, take off in open area, apply both brakes, as you apply the load, if it starts to bog down, stop, open up the large carb screw a 1/8 turn, do this over and over until it takes the fuel and starts pulling.

if right, the governor will open up the carb and it will pull hard until it almost bogs the motor down.

note to file: you could have a bad governor, it has to be working for this setting to work.
the governor is what opens up the carb on a full pull, also the carb could be stopped up, it must be clean and in good condition.

example when you drop the plows in the ground and give it fuel, if the governor is not working properly the motor will just bog down.

most times after plowing or heavy pulling I may turn the carb main screw back a 1/8 turn for just normal around the barn yard work.

this is just my experience and I am no mechanic by any stretch.
others will jump in here,

also the motor must be in good shape, have you checked the compression on the motor??

I only run non ethanol fuel in my tractor and add seafoam fuel system treatment to the tank from time to time.

the fuel filter could be stopped up, must have a good flow of fuel to carb, also the air filter could be stopped up, have you check it, mice can build up nest in the thing.

there are so many things that enter into making a engine run properly, all must be working for the engine to run right.

let us know what you find wrong or what fixes the problem,

Can you tell if it's popping out the exhaust or the air cleaner? Timing really off can cause it to pop through the carb and overly lean mixture can cause it to pop out the exhaust. How do the valves sound? Is it a sewing machine or quiet?
