My Dad's old MF 135 Diesel Round 2

To everyone on here that has posted about helping us keep old tractors running especially bleeding a diesel fuel system I owe all of you a great big thanks.

Now some history for you. As some of you will recall a few months back I brought my Dad's on MF 135 home (Dad had passed). I was going to tackle getting it back up into a reasonable usable condition.

PTFarmer told me about changing the fuel filter assemblies to spin on units as the originals were leaking. Well we found the leak and in the process found that one of the original filter housing was broken off where is bolts on. This forced the change out.

After the change out including the rubber washers we were having issues getting the system bled out to allow the tractor to run. The I&T Shop manuals that I found at my Dad's were not real clear (could have been my understanding) as to how to bleed the systems.

Where did I turn to? YT of course and after some searches and reading past posts and a good link to a youtube video we were able to get the old gal running again in about an hour.

See the attached youtube link with it running. This was after a bit of a wash to get some of the gunk off.

Thanks again everyone! The amount of knowledge here and the willingness to share it is amazing.

A big thanks to PTFarmer for his guidance and answers to my questions

Awesome! What a feeling. My dad and I are in the process of restoring our MF 35X/

I also bought spin on fuel filters as the canister for the primary had a pin hole from rusting out inside as someone didn't drain the water often enough.

I noticed you have the spin on filter. Did you also replace the secondary with a spin on? I am waiting for my spin on heads to show up and I sourced out a Wix spin on filter for the secondary as it's not as long and as compared to the primary Delphi that has the drain.

Did you have any issues with your fuel lines leaking with the original brass sleeve olives or did you have to get the rubber olives for the fuel lines?

I recommended the rubber olives, the one other thing about the brass olives is you usually have to cut the line off if you need to change one out because of a leak. The brass will crush into the tubing some unlike the rubber. This conversion was the one I did on mine when I first got it.

I replaced both with spin on filters. I did have to source a shorter filter for the primary as the Delphi was to long. Yes I did replace the rubber olives as the system was sucking air preventing me from bleeding the fuel system using the old one.

Still have not found any serial number tag. I found my Dad's hand writing on the I&T shop manuals that states it is a 1968 Model. Not sure how correct that is.

If it's not on the dash I've seen them on the left side below where the battery box bolts to the steering box, or it could be on the right hand side below the battery box hiding behind the air cleaner housing.
