MF 165 brake replacement and diff lock

Hi all,
Successfully got the axle housing off on LH sand to change discs and actuator (dry brakes). Looking at RH side I have diff lock. What do I have to do to get that off and into brake housing please?

Sorry a quick follow on! I did not note which way round the actuator was when I got it out. Can they go in either way?

Many thanks, re-assuring. Nu surprise gaskets or seals, other than the main transmission to brake housing seal?

I think theirs one gasket and two seals to each side. Except the diff side I would guess has three seals.
I would replace the outer seal next to the planetary gears. Also the inner seal between the brakes and transmission.I ordered that seal from O'reilly auto parts. Order two of everything since your doing both sides. I'm at the same stage as you, haven't removed the right side with the diff lock yet. Keep those brakes dry is important. Mine is a Mf175. Was their anything wrong with your actuators?

Hi and thanks,

The actuators were still working though they looked quite worn and the springs a little weak. As the replacements are not too expensive I am going for them. Also there was not much/any evidence of oil coming through into brake housing(on the left hand side as that's the only one done so far). But there was about three inches of dust in there and the discs were well worn down and very glazed

Ok,
That makes a little more sense in your situation.
Mine brakes were caked in grease and oil. I had no stopping ability, did yours? I ordered everything before dissembling but my actuators looked to be in decent shape. So I'm on the fence about that.

For info. I took the right hand side off and the diff lock fork is easy to remove, one roll pin. My discs on this side were very well oiled and a lot of oily dust. Replaced the main seal, the diff shaft one was fine. On comparing old actuators with new then the old have worn on their facings massively, probably 5-7mm, so worth changing. All back together and working now

I'm hoping to get away with ought replacing that outer diff. Lock seal as well. I didn't order it nor do I know what it looks like yet.
I can't imagine to much harm coming from there.
