Clutch and Input Shaft Question MF64 Continental 4cyl

Recently received a 1959 MF 65 from a family member and had a few questions as this is my first older tractor and Im new at this. Tractor would start but needed to have the ring gear and starter drive replaced.

Currently I have the tractor split and have put a new ring gear on the flywheel and a new starter drive on the starter. I also have a new clutch installed, ordered from Yesterday Tractor. My first few questions are as followed.

When the clutch is installed, I did use the alignment tool and did check the .090" gap. I notice the clutch fingers sat a little weird when everything was tightened down, Almost at an angle, is this normal?

I have been following a parts manual and for the input shaft, i have a slight leak, and was going to replace the seals. It states that once the clutch fork as been removed, remove the four bolts and the housing should slide off. Well, it does not. Am I missing something? It has the multipower input shaft

Any help would be great, I need to use this tractor soon.

Do you have an I&T repair manual? It has a diagram of a special tool that you can make to check the clutch finger setting. I wouldn't put the tractor back together without checking that first. Multi-Power didn't come along until 1962 or 63, so your tractor is probably newer than you think.

My bad, I was wrong in saying multi power, I should have said that it has the double clutch. In going to make that tool tomorrow and set the fingers, I guess it is okay to have them be at a slight angle as the bolt heads on the fingers are curved. Should I leave the secondary clutch clearance at .090" or should I go closer to compensate for wear?

I'm just more puzzled on how to get the input housing off to replace the input shaft seal? I'm beginning to think i need to get into the tranny to remove a clip or something.

Reset the three PTO release bolts to .080 inch, then you will have less trouble with the external pedal adjustments later. Also make sure the three release levers are the same height.

Your input shaft won't come out because it's hanging up on the lower drive gear. Never owned a 64 but i imagine it's the same as the others. The cap below the input assembly will have to come off so you can get to the gear and shaft. If you are lucky you have the kind where the shaft pulls out the front. If not, like mine, then you'll need to pull the transmission off the differential housing so the rod can push out the back. Once that is done the front gear will drop down far enough for you to pull the input assembly out and service it.
Grab a manual as it's explained pretty well in there.

Also when you adjust the three bolts on the release levers make sure that there is no more than three threads sticking out of the backside of the fingers. If more than three threads stick out behind the fingers it is possible for them to hit the rivets on the clutch disk when the clutch pedal is fully depressed.

That's why .080 or even .060 PTO release bolt clearance is preferred from the .090 setting. Pedal can be set lower, PTO still release OK and lever bolts won't hit the rivets..
