Massey 35 steering box

I have another question about my 35 Massey. I think it's a 1962 if that makes a difference. I have some play in my steering box, and I have read there is an adjustment. But I have no idea what to adjust. I do know I have to be carful and not over adjust.

Well there, that's why I couldn't find it. I don't have that. So I am assuming there's no way to adjust the play in My steering box then?

Sounds like someone replaced the steering box on your tractor with a new steering box, they are not adjustable.

My brother rebuilt the old steering box on his 135, the parts cost as much as the new non-adjustable steering box. My plans for my 135 this winter is to put hydrostatic steering on it, no more loose steering gear box. Just have to figure out how to mount the steering cylinder to the front axle.

I have a 1957 TO35

if no adjustment in your steering box,
you might try this, worth a shot, will not hurt anything.

try a little toe out on the front wheels.

when the tires were worn down I has some shimmy on the road, but the steering box was as tight as I dare adjust. so I gave the front wheels some tow out and it seemed to help with the wheel shimmy, note, I had no shimmy in the fields.

when I got new tires I adjusted the tow in/out back to standard measurement and I do not have shimmy on the road with the new tires.

just my experience

it was real bad on the road, and I put new tires on and now there is no wobble, even in high gear. But on a rough road or field, etc, there's a lot of movement in the wheels.

something else you might look into,
might be worth a shot,
Monroe Magnum Steering Stabilizers SC2928

auto steering stabilizers
many of these 4x4 that have oversize tires, the guys have to install steering stabilizers, some have double shocks on them,
they clamp on at each end depending on the type you buy, but they would fit on your steering arms.

take a look
or change out the steering box, go back to an original steering box,
