I have a diesel 135 that has an issue in the charging system someplace. I can't figure it out and decided I should just go to a 1-wire system. I've been searching for a part number, but all I see if get one out of a junk yard, etc. Does anyone have a part number for one that will work from a local supply shop?

I do not have a part number but if it where me I would use a Delco 10SI 3 wire. They are super easy to wire up plus being a diesel you do not have to install the diode or light for it to work like it should. I use the alternator made to fit a 1980 Chev pick up no power any thing no AC. Cost from my local O'Reilly's is around $45 plus a $10 core where as the one wire is $85. Plus it comes wit ha life time warranty to boot. By the way another problem with the one wire is most take high RPM to excite which can be a problem wit ha tractor

What's the difference between the 3-wire and the stock one that has 3 wires?

Here is a ONE wire 12 Volt Alternator Negative ground:

Purchased from YT Tractor Site:

One and only one wire is ran to one side of Amp meter:

Other connector on Amp meter is ran to and connected to Positive supply from BATTERY at Starter:

Anything above 725> Engine RPM, Alternator operates PERFECTLY:

3 Cylinder Perkins diesels:

MF FE-35 X

I purchased a ONE wire Alternator from this site "YTs" that was sold as a Ford 8-N upgrade. Yes I mounted the Alternator on my MF FE 35 Perkins and it operates perfect. Check to verify that the V-BELT you are driving the Alternator is the proper profile for the pulleys and check the tension.

I do not know what comes on that tractor. But could well be very much like it other then maybe the way the 2 wire plug is set up.

If you have a little mechanical ability and an old 10SI or 12SI Delco alternator you can buy a rebuild kit for around $25 complete with bearings, brushes. low cut in 1 wire regulator, and diodes. I've done a few and they start charging at 1000 RPM or less.

I went out and looked a little closer at my alternator and noticed that the spindle would turn freely, while the pulley didn't move. I took it apart tonight and found that the spindle shaft at the pulley measured about .665" while the hole in the pulley was .776". I'm finding pulleys with .5", but none with my diameter. Do they make replacements? This is my alternator.
