fuel filter assembly replacement needed MF 35X

Does anyone know if there is a spin on fuel filter replacement assembly to replace the old style canister type as shown in this photo? Primary fuel filter

Thanks ptfarmer

Do the fuel lines bolt right onto it or did you have to change the fuel lines for the MF35. I checked the specs for your spin on cover assembly and it shows 1/2 inch fittings for the fuel lines. I put caps on my fuel lines after I disconnected the primary and secondary filter assemblies and the caps I used are 5/16 . But I'm always a bit confused on all these fittings as some are for flared and other's are pipe thread. I bought caps in the hydraulic section at a store and the spec shows 5/16 JIC. I put plugs in the assembly covers as I planned on repainting them and the plugs that fit are plug thread size #5.

The filter base is tapped like a 1/2" nut (bolt would be). It's not 1/2" pipe which is much bigger. A -5 jic fitting has 1/2"x20 threads per inch which is the same as the filter bases. The filter head I got are no longer available.

ptfarmer,

I found a place that has 10 of them for $24.50 GBP and $9 GBP shipping. That's $57 Canadian shipped.

Did you have to change your fuel lines from the secondary to the primary new screw on due to length issues or did your originals fuel lines fit without issue? And did you have to change the fuel line from the primary filter to the lift pump due to length issue? I have the MF 35X with the old style metal canister that only has one opening on either side and right in the middle of the cover. I fear my current fuel lines may be too short to screw into the new style screw on filter assembly.

I used all my existing fuel lines with no problems except for the one that was rusted from the battery (rusty enough to seep a little bit of fuel).

You can make new lines out of 1/4", or 5/16" brake lines using the nuts off the old lines. The seeping line I had to replace went from the fuel pump to the filter head.

Is there an issue with the olives? Mine does not have the rubber ones. Are they needed for the fuel lines for this new screw on filter cover?

These housings are for sale on the internet in the USA:

I have NOT looked into the possibility of these housings being a direct fit on to my 1963 MF FE 35 X 3 cylinder Perkins. Present Fuel housings are not leaking fuel:

I shall be looking into these Fuel housings some time after November,2017.

Thanks for the input. I'm looking for the screw on type. We disassembled the old 35 last week and stripped it down for sandblasting on Saturday. Epoxy primer and just painted it yesterday with Flint metallic grey AGCO paint.

But my old style metal canister for my primary filter has a pin hole at the bottom. It was corroded badly on the inside and after sandblasting it was evident why it was leaking some fuel.

Time for a replacement.

On another note. Do you do any hunting out in Alberta. I lost your email about the decals measurements from the spring. Send me an email to [email protected]

Thanks

Scott
