Massey 165 gas - Runs rough and dies

rvirgil_KS...Thanks for the feedback I believe it hasn't been too long the points have been changed but I will check them. We have changed the coil, cleaned and put a kit in the carb, fresh gas, checked compression. Someone mentioned the potential of a ground issue with the distributor.

I'm looking for any and all advice from anyone on here that has more experience than we do.

Do some simple trouble shooting
#1 check that you have a good blue/white spark at the center wire of the distributor cap and at all 4 spark plug wires that will jump a 1/4 inch gap or more. If you do not have that check the point and the gap setting and make sure the points are good and clean and gaped as they should be.
#2 pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas that will fill a pint jar in under 3 minutes and yes catch the gas to look for dirt/water etc. If you do not have good flow work your way back till you find where the problems is.
#3 when was the last time your serviced the air cleaner?? If could be full of water and mud if a oil bath cleaner or if a paper filter it could be so dirty it is stopped up
