Faulty lift pumps

Hi,

I hear about lift pumps for MF 65 diesel that will ruin the camshaft. Even AGCO sells them. They can be distinguished by looking at the arm that goes to the camshaft. The faulty pumps has an arm that consist of several plates of steel riveted together. They seem to wear out the camshaft lobe in very short time, and the arm itself might break too.

Thought I should tell instead of keeping quiet and people get in trouble.

I just replace them with an electric fuel pump wired to the switch, so that as soon as you turn on the switch the pump starts. Never had any problems with one.

I used to do that with other equipment too. My stump grinder pump died and they wanted a lot for a new one, well over $100. I bought a generic one at Pep Boys for $35 and never looked back, Joe.

Good morning Bill:

I purchased a LIFT pump for a Perkins 3 cylinder diesel and made a decision to purchase a NO NAME BRAND. Pump was constructed just like you are stating. Pump also had a Pores casting...leaked oil....JUNK.

Install a pump from "YT" Tractors......Pump operates fine. Pump is built like the original.
