175 Aux Hydraulic Pump Clearance Problem Update

Hope I can beat this dead horse one more time. Just wanted to update on the solution for the aux pump clearance problem. After milling .100" off the left side of the aux pump, it now fits good without interference with the differential housing. I compared an original two section aux pump at the local salvage yard to the ones that are now commonly available and I was amazed at the difference in size. The original pumps were considerably smaller and would fit with no problem. However, I didn't want to pay $200 for a used pump that likely had wear. I think that the pumps that are sold now are all made by the same place in China as they all look identical.......Sigh.

That's the problem I had with the water pump on my 135 gasser. The original flange was about 1/4 inch thick, and the new one was 1/2". If I tried to push the pulley on farther so the fan belt wuold line up you couldn't get the generator bracket on, or get a wrench on the nuts. Had to mill a 1/4" off the bolt bosses and all is well, Joe.

Yes, here's picture. Funny situation.

Thanks for the heads up"21hunter":

I take it this is the area you had machined?

My brother-in-law is determined to spend some money on his MF 175:

Thanks again:

Yes that's the area. I'm wondering if my early (1965 0r 1966) model has less clearance in the differential case area where the pump was hitting. It' hard to believe that every one would have this problem. Hopefully your Brother-In-Law's is a little different and he won't need to deal with it.
