Diff. Ring Gear Damage and replacements

The crown wheel on my 1970 MF135 has four teeth broken off. I am thinking to replace, it is riveted. Can anyone tell me how to remove remove the rivets, and then if I replace the ring and pinion as a set, should i go for the rivets again or is the bolted version OK.

Original English factory crownwheels were all riveted so you will need to "torch" off the rivet heads, and drive the remaining rivet out with a hammer and punch.
You can also take to the rivets with the "angry" grinder and remove the heads that way as well.
New bolts/nuts will be supplied in your crownwheel/pinion kit.
Use high stength Loctite or equivalent on the bolt threads while there being torqued up.

MF dealer I worked for, a drill was used to weaken the rivet heads so a heavy punch could be used to drive them out after drilling. Heads would pop right off when the rivets were driven out. Center punch well, then use a drill slightly smaller than the new bolts are..

Thanks for your clear explanation!

I do not have to Oxy/Acy so can not torch the heads off. So ground the rivet head off, but the rivet is laughing at me. Then drilled out another rivet leaving about 1/8" outer sheel and tried the center punch. Pretty pointless too, no movement.

Any other tricks: local machine shop? Hydraulic bench press?
Or do I end up pleasing the AGCO annual shareholders with buying a whole new differential assembly #41 as per the part book on page 298?

Might want to look around for a salvage tractor (maybe one with a blown up engine) that has a good, complete rear end assembly, and just swap it out.
