Massey 90 power steering problems

I am having problems with my power steering. It will steer normally from center to right and back to center again. If I try to turn left, it will not turn at all. Something appears to be locking up or binding somewhere but I'm not sure where to look for the most obvious culprit. Several years ago I had trouble with it, but it turned out to be the screen in the pump only needed cleaning. Worked fine up until last fall when it started acting up with the symptoms I just described. Really don't want to take the front steering assembly apart unless I have an idea of what to look for?

Make sure your axle spindles are greased really good. I had a 90 that would steer good one direction, and not the other. When I went to take the
tie rods off to fix, I noticed that I could NOT move the one spindle. Had to get a long snipe to make it move. Once I loosened it and had it greased
up....away it went.

You may want to check the position of the coupler joint half on the steering shaft(on the steering wheel end). The shaft in the top of the steering column needs to operate freely in both directions when wheels are turned. The flexible coupling permits it to do so when properly adjusted. Swede

I'll check that out today. It sure would be nice if it was something external like that instead of having to dig around in the power steering unit.
