Hi Guys,
The 3 point hitch lift cylinder on my 1085 Massey was getting pretty weak, especially when the oil warmed up. Also when the tractor was shut off it would drop down to the ground in about a minute. So I pulled it apart and found the piston, cylinder and rings were all pretty badly scored.
On the Agco site agcopartsbooks.com they list:
Piston and rings 516612M91
o-ring 359293X1
Cylinder 516571M1
There is also a part called "Cylinder Assembly (Repairs Only") which I assume is a complete piston, rings and cylinder kit? Part # 523337M91
My Michigan dealer gave me a price on the cylinder and o ring (I live in Canada close to the boarder at Sault Ste Marie)but said the piston and complete kit were no longer available. So I called a Canadian dealer (8 hours away) and he said the kit # 523337M91 updates to 034617N1 (includes the 4 studs needed, 1 piston, 1 ring guide, 1 o-ring, 1 ring and 1 cylinder) and sells for a few dollars less than the 516571M1 cylinder alone. So I called the American dealer back and he could not confirm or deny this update and said that part was for a much newer 481 tractor. The agco site does not list the 034617N1 for any model. It is not going to be easy to return parts if it is not the right one at ether of the 2 dealers.
Can anyone help or suggest another place to look or person to ask. Wreaking yards have pulled 2 for me and it seems scoring is a common problem on those tractors.
