My PTO has become stuck in engine mode. Recently I was using the PTO and when I went to turn it off I pushed the lever to far forward toward the front of tractor. Now it will not engage or disengage from engine mode. Any ideas??

Not sure I understand. Does the lever just flop back and forth, like it sheared off? It has to be either engaged or disengaged, one or the other? Folks with a lot more knowledge will be along shortly, Joe.

I've got my first cup of coffee down, I'm starting to wake up. Do you mean that with the lever all the way forward, in the disengaged position, if you let the clutch out, the PTO still spins? Like the PTO clutch might be stuck? I can't see where you could push the lever "Too far forward", and hurt it. Like I said, some one that knows will be here shortly, Joe.

Hello, if you have pushed the lever forwards that will move the engagement gear towards the rear and engage ground drive to the PTO. If you have moved the lever too far towards the rear then that will engage the engine-drive. Depending on the amount of wear in the selector mechanism and on the splines it is possible that you have forced the gear too far forwards and it is stuck on the rear of the pump shaft. Excessive force to free it may break the PTO lever. It would be better to drain the transmission oil and remove the LH side cover. If this is what has happened then you should be able to get a good but careful leverage with a small pry bar and free it. It will probably happen again if you are not careful.
Let us know how you get on.

To add one thing to DavidP's post.. If you are stuck in engine mode but are able to move the lever forward to neutral or ground then it sounds like something broke. Pull the side cover off as suggested and you'll probably find the selector arm is broken or the lip of the gear itself broke. If the side cover is really worn you could have popped the lever over the lip on the gear too.
