Hydraulic question on a newer Massey Ferguson

I have a question that I hope someone with experience on newer model MF hydraulic systems can answer for me. I have a late 90's MF 4243, It has the detent kits installed for the levers in the aux remotes. I use it to pull a disc mower that raises with a single action cylinder. When using the mower I set the screw on the remote plug in for single action. The owners manual on the mower says to let the cutter bar down and use with the hydraulics in the float position. This tractor doesn't have a float position, but since the outlet is set to single action can I leave the lever detented in the down position which would be the same as float without causing damage to the tractor's hydraulic system?

I don't know what you have for a mower or how it works, I have a Massey mower that I run on my 2705 and I don't run it in the float, the cylinder has springs to retract it so I just let it down till it sucks the cylinder in a ways then center the lever, I don't have to worry about it that way.
