Had issues with vertical slack in distributor. Pull distributor on
compression stroke with piston at the top of cylinder, rotor
pointing at # 1 cylinder. Question is how do I locate timing
marks on flywheel? Mailed distributor to Philbin Group to have rebuilt...

The marks are kinds small and hard to see. Set #1 at tdc and look through the hole and you'll see the marks. If you don't see them you could be on the wrong stroke. Spin it 180 and look again. They could be filled in with oil/dirt if you have any kind of leaks in there.

What was a the radial slack? Should be no more than 0.002 inches

Vertical slack could be caused by wear in the cam thrust plate which allows the cam to move fore and aft and the distributor shaft to move up and down on its drive gear .
