I am buying a Massey Harris 33 with a gas engine . Its a narrow front with a loader. I have few questions. The serial number plate reads GIRF33 10124. Does that tell the year it was made? Or any other information? Also i am wondering if a guy could switch it over to a wide front and how easy it would be?. I want to convert the trip bucket into the hydrolic type. I am not sure what all i need to buy. Any information about the tractor will be helpfull. I have wanted something for a long time and i think this will make me pretty happy. Also what kind of maintinance should be routine? I want to go through it and make sure everything is up to par.

Good tractor. Serial number can be decoded which will give you the year, there is a link to that on this site. Can be changed to a wide front, you may have to change out the gear box below the rad as well. General maintenance, plugs, points wires etc. Will keep it going for a long time. Keep the clutch properly adjusted, especially. if it has a lpto. Best of Luck! Ben

Just a safety tip to start with. With a loader you should always keep it as low as you can when your doing any thing to keep the center of gravity low or you can/will flip it over.
As for a wide front end yes they made them and yes you can put one on if you can find one that is.

As for making a trip bucket into a hyd bucket yes it to can be done but the engineering of it is not real easy since you have to make it so when it is up as high as it will go the bucket needs to go past center to dump the load correctly. I have done a number of them over the years and while it can be done it takes a good bit of figuring to get it to work like it should

Would it all fit in the back of a 6 1/2 pickup box with topper.. that might be worth a trip.. how much would you want for it.
