Rod bushing

Does people always replace the rod bushing for the piston pin when doing an in-frame engine overhaul ?

And, for the Perkins 248, if the bushing is pressed in at home, will it need to be reamed, or will they have the sufficient clearance without any more worries.

I see. I suspected the bushings were not a perfect fit, it is so little clearance there that it is probably mipossible on such a small pin. The big end and main bearings are so large, easier to get a good fit there.

It is my s going to overhaul his 248 in a MF 690, so now he wonders if he buys brand new rods with a bushing in, if that will be finished, or if the new rods also need to be reamed.

I'd suspect new rods are complete with the bushing already honed to size. Any good machine shop should be able to install and fit the bushings to the rods you have. You need to provide a new pin though..

Keep in mind that if they need to be reamed to keep the pins and rods together as they become a matched set.
