OK, I'll put some pics on here, but if you want to read all about it, go to the Harry Ferguson forum. I'm too tired to repeat myself.
2, take notes. You might be next....

Oh 2, you must not return to grasshopper stage! Be brave, become one with the tractor.... count your bolts, remove the standpipe, don't do this alone without a...hey with all your rods, I KNOW you have a chainfall in the garage.... the trick is to keep the cover as level as possible.I think the only safe way for 2 guys to pick it up would be without axles, or atleast no fenders and tires.
The dvd was 20 odd bucks, got here 2 days later, kinda retro if you know what I mean, must have been copied from a video tape, so no clear closeups, but it makes life alot easier when you watch it a couple times.

I forgot where your post is now miner, but I was surfing the web for tractor tires- one site had all the stats for all their tires... seems every brand has a different idea of what a '600x16' tire is suppose to measure out to, height and width when mounted, so I wouldn't buy any new ones for your row crop, I would just see how one with a little wear fits up until you find a set than tells what it will measure out to in writing.
I have one more busted lift.. piston or cylinder I think, so I know that one will take money, not nuts and bolts, but I could sure use a brain doner 35 around here.... too bad 2 tractors is so far away, I think he is overrun with fergies...

I have yet to read the post on the HF forum but I will soon, I just have to comment that it IS possible to remove the cover by yourself........if you're too stubborn to burden a friend or neighbor for help.......4 times! But it's not much fun.
I see a bolt in one of the pictures that shouldn't be where it is..and a broken end on one of the valve actuator arms.....gonna go read the post and see if I'm right.

INNO!!! I didn't think you were still alive! I thought the mosquitoes carried you off years ago...
Oh I took it off myself, but I don't advise it, a slipping or swinging chain will certainly bend or break something either in the case or the dash etc. I had my 115 year old father work the loader controls while I was aligning the cover, I spent hours prepping for an uneventful link up. Might as well been lining up the shuttle and space station... like in the video, the levers have to be forward of the roller etc etc... this winter I will take it back off and do a proper rebuild job...

Oh I'm alive alright.........got a new job a few months ago and I don't have the kind of time I used to in my old job to surf the forum. The mosquitoes have largely given up as it's starting to get cold here at night, a welcome change over the 2 months of heat and high humidity we "enjoyed".

Tony: Do you know if it is still possible to get JohnUK's written instructions for top coverrs. I couldn't find any on the Harry Ferguson posts. I blew another cover after 10 years since the last one. I heard the engine lug way down at an idle and before I realized remembering about a potential sticking relief valve it blew the cover by cracking it.
Thanks for your time. Manny in Calistoga Calif. [email protected]

Where did you dig this up? The 65's hood don't shine like that no mo... and all those trees are about gone.... and that 35 is slowly sinking into Oklahoma mud...
John UK... a lingering question, such a great mind we had here... always helpful and informative. living history fear sure.
i think Inno here had a collection of 'how to's' from John personally, as a few others on here even before this post... like back when an ignorant peasant like me was still into Allis Chalmers.
Put up a new post here, and Harry Ferguson, and perhaps tractor talk, and see if anyone can help you find this info. Good luck.

I went to the Harry Ferguson forum. I only saw one post by Tony In Mass and that was "Happy Easter". I went through about five pages. What are we supposed to be looking for?

(quoted from post at 15:12:59 04/22/17) No, YOU need to start a new thread, just ask i anyone has John UK's info you need.

Thank you Tony. I'll do that. I just built a channel iron "bridge: to bolt across the lift arm yolks and rest against the draft housing to position my bush hog at the correct mowing height to get me by till my replacement top cover arrives.

I do have a few guides from John (UK) but he advised against me sharing them freely as he had put a lot of hard work into them, might even be a copyright thing. He would rather distribute them himself and seems more than happy to do so.

He doesn't charge for them, he would just rather be recognized for all his hard work. [email protected] is his email address, and I think you have to put "ferguson tractor" in the subject line so it won't go to his junk folder.

Thanks Inno. Ill try and reach John. Last time I rebuilt min 1955 about 15 years ago I read the Manual very carefully and bought a couple of CDs. It lasted a long time but I just want to make sure I am not missing anything. I had bought a 1956 new when I was still in high school and ran that tractor for years with no trouble. When I sold it I was sorry afterwards so I bought this 1955 back in 1975. Thanks for your consideration in helping me.
Manny
