Air cleaner - oil bath question

Can anyone please reply with photos of their oil bath air cleaner or let me know where these #3 and #5 O-rings or joints as they are called in the parts list from AGCO go into the oil air cleaner canister.

I have no O-rings or seals or joints in mine. I have no issue getting some but I need to know where they are placed.

(quoted from post at 05:36:31 04/06/17) I have a MF 35 and a TO 35. Neither has any O-rings on the oil bath.

Neither does my MF 35 Utility.

Agco parts book online also doesn't show any o-rings.

Hi, according to the UK and European parts book for the 35/35X which is is the same one that you have access to there
are 2 gaskets or joints shown under the part number 04900732. These are normally square in section although suitable O
rings would probably work as well. If you do not have at least one ring fitted I don't think that you will be able to
tighten the bowl correctly. The clamp may be tight but the bowl may still be loose.

I think the original "o" rings disappeared when the previous owner serviced the oil bath air cleaner once every 20
years, whether it needed it or not.

I made replacements up with bulk round stock and crazy glue.

If I recall, the top one was a bit larger, but can't remember whether one size would work for both.

Hey Jack,

Do you remember where the O-ring you made goes? Does it go under the clamp above the joint where the bowl butts against the canister? I got a new clamp that is suppose to be for my tractor but the clamp is maxed out for tightness and I am able to rotate the bowl. There is also a gap between the upper surface of the clamp and the upper canister but the clamp is up against the bowl with no gap. It's obvious the original clamp has a smaller diameter on it's lower edge compared to it's top edge. The new clamp has the same diameter on the lower and upper edge.

We sold our 4 cylinder MF 35 last fall as we found a 1964 deluxe 3 cyl perkins with lock differential. We got a great price and are restoring it ourselves. We are making it look pretty again. HAHAHA

Top one (3) I think fits on the shoulder on the bottom of the main filter, the lower one is snug on the lower part of the smaller filter body. The cup slides up against it, pushing it against the flange.

And your clamp is definitely incorrect.

You might be able to grind material off the upper flange to make it fit. It doesn't have to be an airtight fit - just enough to hold the oil cup up snug against the o-rings that keep the air out.

Good luck!
