Hey People New here I have acquired a M F 204 industrial tractor got a few problems I can not get it too quit back popping thru carb have replaced .plugs ,wires, dist cap, rotor points @ cond and rebuilt the carb ,checked timing , ok removed the # 4 wire from the dist cap while running got good spark will jump an 1"..it quit popping until I plug the wire back in what's up with that any ideas will be greatly appreciated # 2 have no brakes they are internal can they b replaced thru the left round access cover on the diff...?..? THANK YOU,,!..! ohh the engine is a Z-134 continental gas

Typically that is bad timing etc. Since you have covered that then next thing you need to check is the valve lash. Could be holding an intake valve open a hair or one could be burned.
Before you do that though... Run a compression check on the cylinders since that is easier. You said removing #4 wire stopped the popping.
1) What happens if you remove the plugs wires one by one? Same result or does the popping return with #4 plugged in and say #3 unplugged?
2) I assume it was doing this before you did all the work on it correct? Not a result of the work?
3) Does it only happen at idle or at all rpm's?
4) Stupid question but are you sure you have the plug wires on the cap in the correct order?

I don't understand the red sentence above. Internal brakes? As far as I know, the 202 has mechanical drum brakes.

(quoted from post at 01:59:00 03/23/17) The 204 has drum brakes, unless someone swapped the whole rear axle assembly out. The 203, and 205 diesels had internal disk brakes.

Yes, thank you, 204 is what I really meant in my post.
