I just purchased a MF135 with the 3 cyl gas perkins motor I have been told it is the same block as the diesel 3 cyl perkins. I was wondering if I could convert the gas to diesel by changing the pistions, heads and adding the injection system is this possible? Since the gas tractor sells for 1/2 of what the diesel does down here in Arkansas

The cylinder head, intake manifold, and the pistons are different. Everything else should be the same (crankshaft, rods, cam, push rods, rocker arm's, etc). Then the injector pump, and all other related parts. With all the small individual parts (throttle linkage, etc) needed to change it over it's much easier to find one with a diesel, or at least a parts tractor that has all the parts for the diesel. I bought a 4 cylinder gasser, and used it until I found a diesel that was in my price range. Now I just need to sell the gasser.

What's wrong with just using the gasser?

Nothing wrong with the gas. I love diesel engines I own a Dodge diesel pickup and my boy drives a diesel Mercedes car and I was planning on putting in a diesel storage tank so everything would run on diesel and not have to worry about storing gasoline.

Love my dodge 3500 and keep looking for a cheap 35 diesel.

Would be easier to find a complete diesel engine than finding all the parts to change one..
