MF 35 deluxe 1964 fix up

Here is the 1964 MF 35 deluxe that my dad and I started fixing up last summer. It's a 3 cyl Perkins diesel.

I can't find the pics that we first bought it. It had an old cab built with plywood sides around a roll bar with a metal cab roof with windshield attached to the sides of the gauge panel.

We bought new fenders and had them painted. New fender to axle bolts. The old ones were rotten with rust where the old wood cab was against them. Sandblasted the roll bar and had it painted black. Sandblasted the original gauge panel and fill welded in the bolt holes from the windshield brackets then repainted. New rubber trim for the front

All new gauges and throttle lever. New steering wheel with new chrome washer, nut and cup. New rubber weather guard around steering column at the panel. New light switch.

New wire harness as the other one was rotten.
New LED plow light attached to roll bar.

New lift arms as we used the old ones for another 1959 4 cyl MF 35 that we sold

All new chain and hardware including new pins for the lift forks. Took apart the box leveller lift arm and cleaned up and reassembled with new grease.

New seat as we hated the old original pan and new cushions nearly cost as much as a new seat. Fabricated a bracket with a slider adjustment for the seat.

Warning rotating flasher light attached to roll bar. Fabricated a bracket for it.

wire brushed the rear end and the tranny case and primed and painted.

New neutral safety switch as old one was by-passed.

Cleaned up the batter tray and holder. primed and painted. New battery cables.

Took apart the oil bath and bracket. wire brushed and prime and paint. New air cleaner top pipe.

Sandblasted the foot rest and straitened them out. Prime and pain and Sprayed with rubber box liner textured spray.

New rubber boots for the shift levers. All new bolts and washers wherever we took things apart. Used locknuts where we instead of lock washers.

Took the hydraulic lift top link out and new spring and nut. Put new rubber boot. Used # 4 buck shot lead ball inside the hole of the side set screw to replace the original lead ball that was drilled out prior to removing the top link spring nut. We figured out the lead ball thing on the 4 cylinder MF 35 when we fixed the hydraulics earlier in the summer. It was much easier the second time around. We built a wrench for the rear top link spring nut using plate steel and steel dowel pins. Made a tool to remove the plunger shaft from the cup out of an big old bolt we grinded the shape into a cross to fit the end of the shaft and used a impact socket on the end of the bolt. Reverse it tightening and forward is to remove the shaft as it screws out from the cup.

New knobs and vinyl washers for the Quadrant after wire brushing and new paint.

Wire brushed the lift cover as we cooked the paint from heating to remove the nut. Primed and paint.

Just put a new intake manifold heater for the cold start.

We are working on the bonnet now. Will replace the side panels and bottom and grille. Sandblast old top and hinges with door. Going to replace all chrome hardware, bonnet bolts and handles. New lights . New front bumper.
Wire brush rest of tractor and prime with paint.

Going to convert to horizontal exhaust with new manifold as the old vertical muffler is badly bent and has a cracked exhaust manifold. New exhaust and manifold gaskets.

Going to take hydraulic cover off and remove pump and replace all O-rings and rear PTO large O-ring. New O-rings for standpipe. Check the hydraulic valve and clean out sludge and ad new hydraulic oil with new filter and O-ring. Set lift levers for proper 3 pound poundage setting and paint wheels. New gaskets for top cover, dipstick panel and pump mount studs.

Looking forward to the day we can take it out to plow with the old Dearborn plow I bought.
