My Dad's MF 135 Diesel

My parents both passed in 2015. I finally got to bring my Dad's tractor home, He bought this one used in 1984 or 1985. Needs some attention but I will get to work on it as soon as I get some time and extra funds.

In the pic of the fuel filters is where one of the problems lie. When running it leaks diesel. This started after my brother took it into the shop for service. He wouldn't take it back and now warranty time has expired. Anybody here have any ideas on how to stop the leak? I know I need to look closer but have not had time yet.

Also could not find the serial number tag. Hints as to where it should be would be helpful.

Thanks and hope you enjoy the pictures.

Try looking on the battery box frame on the left side right above your fuel filter there. Other place would be lower left on the dash but does not appear to be there on yours. Those were the two spots i am aware of.
Which line is leaking? Can't tell from your pics. Seems to be quite a wet area under it though, unless that is from something else.

Not sure where the leak is at this time. Only had time to load it up in Ark and haul it here to MO.

Hope to get more info on that soon.

Nice. Masseys seem to like to leak. I'd start at the tank and
work my way through. I had a chance when I was younger to buy my
great uncles diesel 135. I wish I had.

My brother and I have had a few offers from family but turned them all down.

You are thinking same as I am working from the tank down. From what little I have seen it seems to be leaking from the filter area but will track it down hopefully and get it fixed.

Drops diesel right onto the exhaust pipe. That I don't like.

The O-rings on those filters can be difficult to get to seal properly. I replaced the filter bases with ones that accept spin-on filters, you can find them on ebay (search for SFA11 FILTER ASSEMBLY WITH DELPHI 496A SCREW ON FILTER PORT SIZE 1/2"-20 UNF).

Not going to restore as it runs extremely well. Clutch is good, PTO and 3 point all work as they should.

Staying in its work clothes as it will be a working tractor though regulated to brush hogging and light tillage work.

Not sure if I will replace the lights or not.

Let see a vote on the light replacement please?

Sweet! a 135 diesel is one of my bucket list tractors! Hope to restore one some day! Good luck
with it!

I vote yes on the headlights. Never know when you'll get stuck out after dark. I haven't looked into it but i wonder if there is an LED or halogen version you could put on there. Hmmm...

My brothers 135 needed new sheet metal, he didn't like the lights being on the side so I ordered him a UK style grille/headlights. Even with the shipping from Ireland it was still cheaper than getting the US style grill with no headlights.

Interesting... Where did you order from? Did the metal fit together nicely or did you have to mess with it?

Grill ebay, the lights come separate from the grill. I don't remember who I ordered them from since it has been a couple of years. but I'll look into it. As far as the sheet metal it fit all fit pretty good, the sheet metal for the radiator behind the grill need a little trimming for the lights to clear.

Did you replace both fuel filters with the SFA11 FILTER ASSEMBLY WITH DELPHI 496A SCREW ON FILTER PORT SIZE 1/2"-20 UNF units?

I am sorry to hear about both your parents
I think i can see the serial number tag behind the air filter. Got to bend down to see it.

(quoted from post at 14:54:13 05/25/17) Mine only had the one filter, if it had two I would have changed them both to the spin-on.

Thanks for the info. I will get these on order.
