Massey Harris Pit Bull

I posted a message a few days ago in the general
discussion about a Massey Harris Pit Bull loader
that I recently bought and got a lot of great help. I
am still wondering if anybody knows production
numbers of these things or knows of any other ones
in existence. Some thought that it was a 1001 Work
Bull, however I believe that this thing was built
previous to those because it says Pit Bull on it and
nothing about a work Bull on it. Any help or info
would be appreciated.

The volume two Massey Legacy book I have by John Farnworth shows the Pit Bull complimented the basic Work Bull tractor range in years 1956 to 1958. Tractor was built by Midwestern Industries Inc, and sold only through MHF sales outlets. Davis loader was standard equipment, the bucket could be removed and boom fitted with available broom, backhoe, dozer blade, forklift, or scarifier. Does not list the numbers built..

Thanks. Wonder if any of the attachments still exist or if they have all been scrapped. It would be neat to find some of them. I think the 1001 is diesel and mine is based off of a 33 tractor.

Thanks. You have been great help. I can't get the
link to work or get the book to load on the site but I'll
keep trying.

It's patterned after the 303-404 Massey-Harris chassis, five speed transmission with forward-reverse torque convertor drive. Used to service one years ago at the MF dealer I worked for. Think it had the E-208 Continental four cylinder gas engine.

On another note, if someone doesn't buy my MF2135 industrial I have been considering making it a "tractor shovel" (6x6 transmission, manual shuttle shift). So it wouldn't be too hard for me to do it, looks like it would be a very handy machine to have on the farm.

Dieseltech, I lived in Sidney for 13 years, worked for Zimmer, been in Deaton's, bought cattle at Claypool Sales, bought an Allis WD from a dealer between Claypool and Warsaw, moved away in '84.
