Changing the fuel filter and went to the fuel tank shut off valve. Tried to spin it tight like a radiator valve, but theres no end to the
tightening, so is it a 90 degree valve? I didn't bother to take a picture, so which way is shut and which way is open? Also noticed that I can move it up and down about 1/4 inch?
Thanks, Jerry

It does not have much drag when I turn it.

Hi, I would agree with PT. There is an O ring on the nylon spindle this will keep it stiff to turn but you will not
be able to actually close the tap. They normally strip through overtightening. You may be able to open itand you may
be lucky in that it will not leak.
Only one answer and that is to replace it. Don't forget to replace the strainer on the top of the tap.

The strainer's an important bit. Mine was missing it, causing an exercise in frustration when cockroaches clogged up the fuel line and I was scratching my head why it was starving for fuel.

(quoted from post at 20:20:17 03/10/17) Yikes! How i the world did you get roaches in the line??

You would be surprised, worked on a gasser that would only idle. Turns out a mosquito got into the carb, and stopped up the main jet, how it got in there is anybody's guess.
